Appearance#

  • Theme: light, dark, or system to follow your computer.
  • Accent Color: Neutral, Blue, Violet, Amber or Emerald. It's used for controls, focus rings and selected items.

Editor#

  • Font Size and Line Height (Compact, Normal, Relaxed, Wide or Extra wide).
  • Line Numbers and Highlight Current Line.
  • Source Word Wrap wraps long lines in code and LaTeX source views.
  • Auto Save: Off, Every 30 seconds, Every minute (the default) or Every 5 minutes.
  • System Spell Check works in the Markdown, LaTeX and source editors. It doesn't check Word, PowerPoint or Excel files.

AI#

  • Planning Mode is off by default. When it's on, the agent first writes a step-by-step plan for you to approve before it changes anything.
  • Show Context Indicator shows what content the agent is using.
  • Follow-up Suggestions shows suggestion chips after the agent replies.

Data & Privacy#

  • Active Document: Always include (the default) sends the open document with each AI request. Only when attached includes it only when you attach it. Either way, you can attach documents, folders, PDFs and images to any request.
  • Clear Conversation History deletes every saved agent conversation in the current project. It can't be undone, and it isn't available while the agent is responding. Restore points are kept.
  • Links to the Privacy Policy and Terms of Service, and Request Account Data Export, which opens an email to admin@nebulawriter.com.

Files#

This tab's panel is titled Files & Export.

  • Default Document Type sets what File → New Document (⌘N or Ctrl+N) creates: Markdown (the default), LaTeX, Document (.docx), Presentation (.pptx) or Spreadsheet (.xlsx).
  • LaTeX Engine: the built-in engine, Tectonic, is always active and downloads packages as needed. If a project needs more, install TeX Live here as Recommended or Full (Full uses about 10 GB of disk space). Once it's installed, Update and Uninstall appear. See LaTeX.

Shortcuts#

A searchable list of keyboard shortcuts for your computer. Help → Keyboard Shortcuts (⌘/ or Ctrl+/) shows them too. The full list is in File types and shortcuts.

Account#

Shows the email you signed in with and your plan under Subscription, with Upgrade to Pro (or View Plan Options on Pro), Sign Out and Request account deletion. See Plans and sign-in.

About#

  • Version shows which version you have.
  • Check for Updates. If an update is available, choose Download & Install, then Restart Now.
  • Export Settings saves your settings to a file, and Import Settings loads one, for example on a second computer.
  • Copy System Info and Report an Issue help when you contact support.
  • Reset All Settings returns every setting to its default.

Help#

Help & Getting Started gives a short overview of the app. Under Interactive Tour, choose Start Tour (or Restart Tour) for a guided walk-through. Help → Guided Tour… does the same.
